You know when you meet someone and you just know you’re going to click with that person? That’s how I felt when I met Molly! We met at a bridal show; it was my first ever! So I was a little excited, a little nervous, and a little hyped on caffeine. But she took a chance on me and stopped by my booth. She was kind and endearing and kind of bounced around lightly on her feet when she talked. Throughout our conversation, I found out that Molly is an Enneagram 2 (where are my Enneagram lovers?!) and then our first encounter made so much more sense. Her warm, welcoming demeanor is directly aligned with “The Helper.”

Fast forward to their breathtaking engagement session! Molly had a distinct vision of what she wanted for her and Sam’s engagement session—romantic and formal with a touch of countryside. She said things like “tall grass,” “open fields,” “we like the outdoors,” and I knew we had to shoot at Manassas battlefield. The light there paired with the tall grass never disappoints!

When Molly and Sam showed up, she showed me the gorgeous blue gown she had purchased for our engagement session. Oh. My. Goodness! It was gorgeous, and I was so surprised when she told me she found it on Amazon! Between her styling and our location, her vision was brought to life. We produced a beautiful result that looked like we had been transplanted from Virginia to the European countryside!

These two are so sweet and in love. Sometimes when couples are in front of my camera, it takes a little bit for them to loosen up and get comfortable with me—totally okay and normal. But Sam and Molly? It was instant! When I asked Sam to kiss Molly, he got so excited to just be around her, hold her, and care for her—even if he had to wear a button-down shirt and dress shoes in the middle of a field.

Their willingness to let me be creative was so sweet and encouraging. We found these pods of…feathery stuff? I thought maybe it would be cool to create some foreground with them and Sam was on board—sifting through plant pods like none other! This was also one of my very first ever sessions shooting on FILM! When you find clients that are willing to let you learn while you capture their memories—hold on to those folks! I compiled all the film images from their session at the top of the blog post for you all to check out.

No, this is totally not my normal style, but…ugh, look at the moon! How romantic is that!

So, yes…obviously these two can bring the heat in front of the camera. But they can ALSO bring the laughs!
This is Sam throwing the plant pods for me then running back into place to get the shot!
