Old Town Alexandria is a romantic place…especially at sunrise! These two lovebirds, Samantha and Anthony, currently live in Alexandria and also got engaged here. In fact, as we were strolling the streets during their engagement session, we passed the restaurant where they got engaged—Landini Brothers Restaurant—so naturally we had to stop and take some pictures there!

Seeing the two of them interact was so endearing. Hearing the stories that led up to their engagement, even more so! Samantha has a daughter, who Anthony asked if he could marry her mother. When her daughter replied with an enthusiastic, “It’s about time!” they went together to go ring shopping. Like I said, a heartwarming story!

This was admittedly my first time shooting in Old Town, and since they live there, they were so friendly and excited to show me around! We saw the cobblestone streets, some beautiful homes, and some other landmarks and parks. Samantha’s family has a family friend who has a double lot in Alexandria where we were able to sneak into their secret garden for a few shots! It was such a truly hidden treasure and great experience! The weather threatened to be a little dreary at the start of our session, but as soon as the sun rose, the clouds parted and it was a perfect sunrise session.

I think I say this every time I write about a sunrise session…but there’s just something so romantic about them! Being alone in what is typically a bustling downtown area…it’s so quiet and it’s just me and the clients. Honestly, I would take sunrise over sunset almost any day!

Unfortunately, their wedding had to be postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19, but they made the tough decision to postpone in order to keep their family and friends safe during this time. I admire the selflessness that Samantha and Anthony showed when making this decision!

Come June of next year, we will certainly be having a hell of a party to celebrate these two getting married after a much awaited celebration! 🙂
