For the second year in a row, I have had the honor and privilege to work with Sarah Stillwell, the owner of Grace & Grandeur Bow Company, on her Valentine’s Day product launch! Any time Sarah asks me to shoot for her, I jump on the chance because she is a creative genius and always brings a cool, creative idea to the shoot.

Last year, we were at The Bellwether in Louisville for an Eloise in Paris meets Girl’s Night Out session! It was absolutely incredible. You can take a walk down memory lane here.

For the 2024 vibe, we wanted to capitalize on the recent Barbie trend, so we really channeled our inner pink and went for it.

The setting: The Lady Clay in Lexington, KY

Quite honestly, I am not sure if we will ever find a more perfect location for a G&G session. We arrived and throughout the cottage we found a ton of pink, a ton of bows, and a ton of vignettes that were perfect for what we needed!

In fact, they even had this vintage Barbie board game that we incorporated into one of the scenes. It was the absolute perfect addition to the shoot.

The goal for any Grace & Grandeur shoot is to get a mix of images that are product photography for listing photos, flat lays for wholesale photos, and lifestyle images for marketing purposes on website, socials, and email marketing. This strategic approach is what I live for!

From a technical perspective, this session day was very overcast and a little gloomy. Pair that with some darker spaces within the cottage, and it was a recipe for low light. Approximately 90% of these images were shot with off-camera flash. If you had told me at the start of my business that I would be able to make OCF look like natural light, I would not have believed you. As a photographer, this is a big technical milestone, and I am really proud of it!
