As many of you know, this year serves as a year of transition for the Haney family. Caleb is getting out of the Marine Corps in the summer and we will be making a big move to our “forever home,” as we like to call it. Obviously we know we may not live there forever, but it certainly will be a huge part of our lives and likely where our children grow up and go to school. It’s an important decision!

2020 was supposed to be the year for Ali Rae Haney Photography. It ended up being a great year celebrating with beautiful couples and families. But pretty much all my goals had to do with ARHP. Obviously we all know that 2020 didn’t go quite as planned, so that took a toll on my morale when it comes to this goal-achieving Enneagram Type 3 personality.

2021 is going to be different. We have so many projects and dreams and ideas in the works that we have to diversify our goals. This year the goals are across the board–ARHP, personal life, and our future.

Institute more family traditions. As our immediate family grows and we contemplate moving away from our parents, we want to stay family-centered. In addition to holiday traditions, we want to start some surrounding smaller occasions, like Sunday morning cinnamon rolls or Taco Tuesday. Growing up, I always just took it for granted that we all came to dinner at the table every night, but Caleb’s family didn’t always operate like that. Now that children are in the picture, we are starting to take a deeper look into what we want our family and parenting dynamic to be.

Transition my business over to our new home state. It won’t be the first time I transitioned my business to a new area. I love getting a head start when transitioning to a new place, so even though I just released the new ARHP website, I will start transitioning over SEO soon.

Simplify all our stuff. Anyone in my family will tell you that I don’t like having a lot of stuff. Yet somehow…we always end up with more. Our stuff has exponentially exploded since having kids too. I want them to live a simple childhood that allows them not to be distracted by alllll the things. But in just three short years that we have lived in each house we have accumulated so much. That needs to go and a system of simplification needs to be in place for the future. I’m thinking about making a Facebook Marketplace purge before we move. If you need anything, hit us up!

Complete a hard launch (or two) of The Photography Framework. I did a soft launch of the PDF products for The Photography Framework last summer right before I had Jackson. Since then, I have recorded [most of] the videos for the full-fledged course. I am still finishing the Digital Course Academy to roll out the first launch of the course, but trust and believe, a lot is going on behind the scenes.

Revise our business plan for a future business to prepare for its start. Once we get to our “forever home,” we plan on launching yet another business. Looks like I’m not a serial entrepreneur…but this one, guys…this one is big. I can feel it! Over a year of research and I’m still learning new things about this space. Don’t worry, we will reveal it when we are ready! Promise.

Document 15 special wedding days! Each year I set a goal for myself about how many weddings I would like to shoot. Despite Coronavirus ravaging the wedding industry last year, I still met my goal. I’m not going to let an ongoing pandemic and a huge life transition deter me from meeting my goal this year either!

As you can see, some of my goals are specific, while others are a little more flexible. Truly, my goal is to grow. These goals are just meant to guide that growth so that I have a starting point to which I can compare the end of the year.
