Didn’t I tell you?! My clients are the best, most service-oriented, pure-hearted people out there! Kayla and Donovan are no exception. Kayla is finishing up her last semester in her Masters of Education program to advocate for equity and cultural diversity, while Donovan is applying for residency programs for psychiatry. Talk about a power couple!

Now let’s take it back to college! I first met Kayla at Virginia Tech when she was pledging my sorority. Gamma Delta Sigma was a…different…kinda sorority. The way I described it to others was “the sorority that the girls who were friends with mostly guys” joined. What I mean by that is that we were the girls who were very down-to-earth, pretty easy-going, with a fun/maybe a little bit wild side. Even though I went inactive my last semester at VT, when Kayla pledged, I was still able to meet her in passing and knew she was a quality woman!

She and Donovan met during their time at Virginia Tech as well! He was in a fraternity, Sigma Nu, and they initially met at a mixer where Kayla was notttt interested. Eventually Donovan won her over and, well, the rest is history!

In true Hokie fashion, Donovan proposed right by the Pylons! They love the mountains because that’s where they fell in love, so originally we were going to try and plan their engagement session in the mountains. Once we aligned schedules though, we found that Airlie in Warrenton, Virginia was the best fit for them. We still had some fall foliage that really brought in the colors of their outfits, so meticulously chosen by Kayla!

As we explored the gardens and grounds of Airlie, we got to know each other again. Kayla joked that it was the interview we never got to have when she was pledging the sorority, and she was right!! Their April 2021 Brix & Columns wedding will be absolutely gorgeous and perfect for the two of them! She will have completed her Masters and Donovan will be deep into his residency by then! Here’s to the future Mr. and Mrs. Nourn! Let the planning begin!
