BRANDING
I'm Ali Rae and I love building brands.
So let's build that business one blog post at a time.

let's whip that brand into shape
Thanks so much for your continued support. My business and brand has seen many chapters, and while this was one of them, please consider joining me in the current chapter. I am now a brand developer/photographer and fractional CMO for fellow small business owners. If you’d like to follow along, you can sign up for my email list here!
This session was a special one for me! Brianne has been a friend for quite a few years now, a friend that was brought to me by the Marine Corps. She and her husband moved with Caleb and me from North Carolina to Quantico, and I am so thankful for that. The first time we re-connected once we had both gotten settled into our new homes, she stood in my kitchen and told me she was pregnant. I immediately hugged her because I knew their history with trying to have a second child. You can read more about their unique journey here.
After I hugged her she said, “I’m pregnant with triplets.” My jaw dropped to the floor because I knew that I had urged her to try Clomid, a fertility drug that Caleb and I had used to get pregnant with Huxley. Less than a 1% chance of having triplets…and, well, it was their lucky day apparently!
As her belly grew, she walked through the pregnancy with grace and a surprising amount of energy, considering she also has a three-year-old daughter. If she was scared or overwhelmed, she hid it well because I would have never known it. The triplets were born at 32 weeks and spent about 40 days in the NICU. Everyone was released with a clean bill of health!
When they finally arrived home, they were greeted by their older sister, Amelia, and their cat, Calvin. Willa, Milo, and Theo are so very loved, as you can tell in each and every image. Brianne asked me to photograph this stage in their life because, although they may be tired, their hearts are full.
This was my first time photographing triplets, and my…I am so impressed by the communication that it takes to take care of three littles at once. Scott and Brianne are succeeding by practicing so much patience and grace, while also doing practical things like keeping charts on who was the last to be fed with formula. I am amazed by their teamwork and loved seeing Amelia love on her siblings.
Of course I wanted to get shots of all three of them together, but I feel like (just as I have done in this blog post) most of their life they will be referred to as “the triplets.” So I wanted to make sure I got individual shots of them and each of their details because even at just 11 weeks old, they already have their individual, little personalities!
Brianne and Scott (and Amelia and Calvin!), thank you for inviting me into your home to document this exhausting and beautiful time in your lives. It was truly my pleasure, and I promise that Caleb and I will babysit one night for you guys to have a very much deserved date night!
Let's talk business.
