“Despite the distance, we’ve always got each other.”

Meet Anna. She is wife to Sean, a intelligence officer, and fur mom to her sweet Shepherd, Oakley. Anna has known Sean for 13 years and they will celebrate their fourth year of marriage this July. I first met Anna when Sean and Caleb were going through TBS together. We had a group of four or five spouses that bonded through the lack of knowledge we had of the Marine Corps. During the culminating week-long field exercise of TBS (which we thought was SO long), we had America’s Next Top Model marathons and bonded over how much is sucked to be without our other halves.

After quite a bit of training, she and Sean received orders and moved to Camp Lejeune. Anna found a job as a nurse and currently works full-time in the Labor and Delivery unit, bringing fresh, new life into this world. She works three days a week and spends the rest of her time at the beach, hanging out with friends, and being a fur mom to Oakley.

Throughout both of Sean’s deployments, Anna says she has learned to rely on other spouses for support and understanding of the situation she is in. Throughout the time I have been interviewing spouses it seems that not only is it helpful to have other spouses you can talk to, but it is even more beneficial when husbands share the same MOS. That is the case for Anna and her friend, Brooke, who are deployment buddies! When Sean is not deployed, however, the two of them are world travelers, noting Ireland and Iceland as their most recent adventures!

They recently received totally unexpected orders to 29 Palms with little notice…just about two months beforehand they were told they would be moving! She says that they are sticking together and making the most of every adventure the Marine Corps throws at them. I admire her strength during a time of quick upheaval and relocation!
