“Despite the distance, my love for us never quits.”

Meet Tierra. She and her Marine have been married for five years. During the first year of their marriage, however, they had to live apart. He received orders to Okinawa, but they were expecting their firstborn baby girl, Aubrey. She decided to stay in the states to have help with the new addition to their family. Their biggest moment of growth was when he moved back to the states from Okinawa and they began living together. It was a huge adjustment after creating a normal life and routine without her husband there.

Both of Tierra’s parents were in the military, so she had a little bit of knowledge of the lifestyle prior to marrying her Marine. Even so, raising little ones of your own in this lifestyle is a challenge in itself. Her husband is currently deployed, but she is killing it with both her babies by her side, Aubrey who is four and Lincoln who is one.

Tierra has her own Scentsy business, which she says she is “obsessed with,” which I believe because it was smelled so good as soon as I walked into her home. Many military spouses have small businesses like these because they are mobile! Also, she has recently started a new passion project—her Podcast titled “Sassmouth.” Feel free to follow her @tierrasherred. The link to her Podcast is in her profile. The main topics are motherhood, pregnancy, and trash television breakdowns…let’s be real, that’s most of my life summed up into a Podcast!

She also plans on returning to school to obtain a certificate in business administration and social marketing. She is extremely organized, which will help her in this profession. Also, jobs are available for her to work from home, which will allow her to remain with her kiddos during the week!

As they are currently experiencing her deployment, her advice to fellow spouses is: “Don’t take it so seriously and really just breathe.” As simple as it sounds, sometimes we need this the reminder when it seems the deployment curse has hit us!
