BRANDING
I'm Ali Rae and I love building brands.
So let's build that business one blog post at a time.

let's whip that brand into shape
Thanks so much for your continued support. My business and brand has seen many chapters, and while this was one of them, please consider joining me in the current chapter. I am now a brand developer/photographer and fractional CMO for fellow small business owners. If you’d like to follow along, you can sign up for my email list here!
George has been part of our military family since the beginning. Caleb and George attended the United States Naval Academy together and ran together while they were there. The first time I met George was on the weekend of Ring Dance, a tradition at the academy where the midshipmen receive their class rings and dip it in water from all seven seas. Subsequently we partied pretty hard with really great company.
He has been at all of our major life milestones—our wedding and visited us right after we got home from the hospital with Huxley. His friendship means the world to us. So when he told us about Amy, we knew she was special.
Huxley was born in October and I remember him and Amy leaving and thinking…it’s only a matter of time before they’re engaged. And we were right!! Christmas rolled around and we got news of their engagement! Of course, he diligently researched the ring, the diamond, and the location prior to proposing. Everything was perfect, and she said yes!
When I got a call from Amy and she asked me if I was able to shoot their engagement photos, I was ecstatic! I mean, first of all, they’re beautiful people. Second of all, I was honored to be part of one of their milestones, just like they had been part of ours.
Scheduling anything (vacations, doctors appointments, photo sessions, etc.) while in the military is difficult because schedules are subject to change (and often do) at any point. Thankfully we were able to find a time that George and Amy were available and we were available. We traveled down to Norfolk for their engagement session and explored the Norfolk Botanical Gardens while we there. It was absolutely gorgeous (albeit hot), and the rose garden was in FULL bloom! Seriously, there were so many locations throughout the botanical garden that it took us over two hours to see them all, and even then, we didn’t fully explore everything it had to offer.
Seeing Amy and George interact during their session solidified what Caleb and I already knew—these two are meant to be together. Their goofy personalities mesh perfectly together and that was obvious by the silly faces and attempts at a Dirty Dancing lift in the middle of the Renaissance Garden! These two are so loving though, that they even fed Huxley during our session and made sure she was cool enough because it was so hot outside. This is when you know you have good friends and good clients, y’all!
While we were in the area, we got to see the life that George and Amy are building together, and gosh, it certainly is a beautiful one. They own a building with four apartments just a block from the beach and rent them out as Airbnbs, so if you’re ever looking for a weekend getaway…hit them up!
Thank you, George and Amy, for including us in this part of your story. We absolutely cannot wait for your Chicago wedding next year!
And I don’t think any engagement session is complete without a few bloopers. ♥️
Let's talk business.
