let's whip that brand into shape
Thanks so much for your continued support. My business and brand has seen many chapters, and while this was one of them, please consider joining me in the current chapter. I am now a brand developer/photographer and fractional CMO for fellow small business owners. If you’d like to follow along, you can sign up for my email list here!
As I walked up to Lansdowne Resort where Stephanie and Zac were preparing for their wedding day, the birds were singing and there was a light breeze in the air. They had the perfect spring day for a wedding! I met Stephanie in the penthouse Presidential Suite where she and her bridesmaids and mother were getting ready. The first thing that Stephanie asked me had nothing to do with her wedding day…instead, she checked on me and asked me if I needed anything. And I think that epitomizes Stephanie’s personality. Even on the day of her wedding, one of the biggest days of her life, she was caring for others rather than focusing on herself.
Once I jumped into photographing her details, I realized that her attention to detail was impeccable and her organization flawless! It was a joy to walk in and basically have a space ready for me to photograph everything from her shoes to her perfume to her personalized details, including a necklace she wears everyday that has “Love you” in her late father’s handwriting. It goes without saying that every bride wishes to have those moments with her father on her wedding day. Stephanie lost her father just over a year ago, but commemorated him in so many beautiful, sentimental ways throughout the day. He had reserved seats at both the ceremony and reception, and she wore a picture of him on her bouquet that she had with her the entire day.
Stephanie and Zac were married in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, which was impeccably beautiful. With towering ceilings and bright colors, the couple was married in front of all their closest family and friends. Stephanie’s mother walked her down the aisle to Zac, where he was beaming when he saw her!
After the couple said their vows, we headed to their cocktail hour and reception venue, Fleetwood Farm Winery. It is a gorgeous new venue near Leesburg. They also have a tasting room and what appeared to be a restaurant, which piqued my interest and I will definitely be adding it to my northern Virginia “must visit” list!
The reception hall has clean white walls with high exposed dark wood beams. It is essentially a blank slate for any couple who is married here. But Stephanie…she took that blank slate and made it into a masterpiece. The “wow” factor when you walked in was definitely there due to the copious florals that adorned each guest table and their own sweetheart table. It was incredible–a scene out of a fairy tale! Each plate had a pink silk napkin that accompanied a simplistic, yet stately menu with a beautiful charger underneath. When I complimented her on the overall design of their wedding, I was floored to find out that Stephanie designed the whole event single-handedly. The floral masterpieces were brought to life by The Rosy Posy! It was truly remarkable.
After Stephanie and Zac shared their dance, Stephanie’s sister, Janet, accompanied a dance to honor their father. There was a recording playing of Janet dancing with her father at their wedding, so they could have a piece of him there with them. Zac and his mother danced to a unique song that I had never heard for a mother/son dance before, but it seemed to fit their relationship perfectly.
Their guests enjoyed a great night of dancing, thanks to DJ Mova! He kept the dance floor packed all evening, setting the scene for an incredible celebration. Stephanie slipped into her personalized jean jacket that adorned some crystals and “Mrs. Shulman,” her new name, on the back with her felt, flat-brimmed Mrs. hat, and some sporty Nikes with a crystal, oh so bridal swoosh.
Together with their families, Stephanie and Zac embarked on a new chapter of their lives with one another, and I am so thankful to have been able to be part of that chapter! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Shulman!
