This engagement session was the result of a cancelled session…and I couldn’t have been more thankful that we got rained out for our originally scheduled time! Initially we decided we were going to shoot in Georgetown, but we ended up shooting at the Lincoln Memorial with the reflecting pool and Washington Monument in the background…it was truly so romantic to spend the sunrise with these two lovebirds!

Alli & Corbett have an interesting story. They grew up just a couple hours from one another in Texas, but never crossed paths. Each of their individual jobs eventually brought them both to D.C., which is where they met. She is a medical supplies saleswoman, while he works as a civilian for the Navy doing community partnerships. This is the hopeless romantic in me, but isn’t it crazy how the one you’re meant to be with, always finds his/her way to you? They’re from roughly the same area and never met till they both moved halfway across the country! Soul mates, if ya ask me!

Because they met in DC, it was important to them to document this chapter in their story—how else better to do that than to have an engagement session at the monuments! These guys were resilient despite the 36-degree temperatures we faced at sunrise in mid-November! As you can see, one of Alli’s dresses was off the shoulder, but she still rocked it and we covered her in her winter jacket in between shots to try and keep her lips from turning blue. Mission accomplished! Shooting at sunrise is one of my favorite things to do, especially in the city. Everyone is still asleep, and there’s a peaceful quiet that rests on the roads. It felt like we had the city to ourselves! Ugh, how romantic!

The love between these two is supportive and warm (thank goodness, right?). The way Corbett cares for Alli is obvious when he lovingly held her jacket and checked in with her about how she was doing throughout the session. It will truly be an honor to photograph their wedding in April when we finally all make it to Georgetown together for their Westin wedding!
