This week’s unsuspecting brand issss Created Colorful. If you’ve been here for a minute, you’ve probably heard me talk about them before because their service is life changing.
Created Colorful is a service-based brand that provides color analysis consultations that tell you what your best colors are. All you service providers, listen up—this one’s for you! When I say service-based, I mean largely that there is a direct exchange in time for money. There’s face time between provider and client. And even though I never verbally spoke to a human through the color analysis process, the process was so impactful that it has caused me to want to scream it from the rooftops.
Okay, let’s dive into a few things Lindsey over at Created does GREAT.
A “color consultation” sounds like a simple thing. It’s service-based and very easily a one-and-done type of service. But Lindsey has taken it so many steps further based off of her ideal clients NEEDS. She has done a magnificent job of pinpointing the pain points that we feel and fixing them with ease.
Let’s take a step back and look at Lindsey’s ideal client. Most likely female, probably either a high-achieving professional who wants to look her best on a daily basis, but may not have time to shop and curate the perfectly coordinated look or the mom who is wanting to “treat” herself by making herself feel human again after going through a major identity shift and almost certainly doesn’t have time to shop and curate the perfectly coordinated look.
Thus, enters the “done-for-you” model that Lindsey has created. While it’s simple, it works because she is solving a very major need for her ideal clients.
This next thing is where most service providers stumble. A color analysis would typically be a one-and-done type of interaction, right? Once my colors are done, that transaction is complete and I don’t need it anymore. That makes things hard for the service provider because they are CONSTANTLY having to find new clients and can’t sell to those that already know, like, and trust them.
But Lindsey found a way to be useful even after that color consult is complete, which is by creating Pinterest boards, Amazon storefronts, acquiring affiliate codes for certain other companies all without outfit inspiration categorized by different color palettes. She even takes it a step further and sends updated seasonal shopping guides, accessory guides, makeup and nail polish guides—literally everything you can think of that you MIGHT need to style your look.
And those affiliate codes lead to REPEAT income from someone who may otherwise be a one-time customer. Genius, pure genius.
Lindsey has been in business since I believe…2020? Sorry, Lindsey, correct me if I’m wrong! Since then she has hired around 30 people and Created has done over 15,000 consultations. 15,000.
Lindsey just launched a course titled “Love Your Closet.” It’s all about how to make shopping less intimidating, which she has already been doing right? But now she’s giving a more tailored, individualized way to do so.
All this to say, she PERFECTED the service offering before branching out into other offerings, like a course. I could definitely learn from her on this one!
