KEEP UP WITH ARHP ON INSTAGRAM!

I remember when Kassie first told me she was expecting. We were doing our monthly FaceTime accountability call, and I said, “Sooo...I might need you to associate shoot for me some in September...” Her eyes slowly drifted up from the computer screen, and she replied, “Okayyy, but only if you associate shoot for me in August...” We are due almost exactly a month apart, so of course, we had to photograph each other’s maternity sessions!! She did some research and found Oatlands, a hidden, little gem out in Leesburg that has a beautifully expansive garden with so much variety and so many different vignettes! Despite the heat, we had so much fun with her, her husband, and Coco, who always steals the show! She can’t wait for her little sister to make an appearance and have a new best friend!

THE BLUE DOOR!!! I had seen this blue door in some other shots around Alexandria and could not figure out where it was...well, Nicole, Eric, and I finally found it at the Carlyle House!! I was so, so thankful! Leading up to this session we didn’t know if it was going to happen, even though we had already rescheduled due to COVID. The forecast had thunderstorms and were made a last minute decision to move the session up an hour and a half. I’m so glad we did because it was nice and cool amidst a bunch of humid, summer Virginia days. Then as soon as we were ending, the rain came. Learning to accept that the timing is always perfect even if it’s not always within our control!

Headed back to Old Town Alexandria tonight for an engagement session...so happy to be back behind the lens with clients again. Wish us luck that the rain holds off and we can capture some magical light like this!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, especially these three awesome ones! To my husband, we work together as parents better than I imagined. I’m thankful for our rhythm, for our teamwork. This first picture is still one of my all-time favorites of you and our girl, from the first day we got to meet her! To my own father, thank you for raising me to be a strong, independent woman, but still be there when I need anything (and I’m pretty needy ??‍♀️). Not to mention spoiling in our Hux in all the best ways. Lastly, my father-in-law who helped to raise Huxley’s father and is equally wrapped around her finger as her other grandfather. The three of you show her what it means to have steady and loving father figures in her life and I can’t wait to see the bond you all have with our son as well. ?❤️?

This image was produced from a challenge I was given by Kassie & Claire, founders of @klaynestyled, and masterminds behind Style by Trial! Style by Trial is a subscription-based monthly styling kit that comes in the mail. The best part is—each month you get to pick and choose the items you’d like to keep for your styling kit! This month’s challenge was to create an image using at least three items from the kit AND your hand(s). I had to enlist the help of my grandma, who happened to be in my office at the time I was taking this image, so shout out to @jane.vanderbilt!
