BRANDING
I'm Ali Rae and I love building brands.
So let's build that business one blog post at a time.

let's whip that brand into shape
“Despite the distance, we will always have a safe place. A place to learn, a place to grow. A place to tell our darkest secrets and create our favorite memories. A place to laugh and a place to cry.”
Meet Lexxy. She is our first Navy spouse of the series! She is married to Nick, a corpsman, who is attached to a Marine unit and is preparing to deploy in the coming months. Nick isn’t the only one that is service-oriented in their relationship though! Lexxy was also a corpsman (corpswoman!) before she parted ways with the Navy. In fact, they met each other in Pensacola while they were navigating Corps School together. Less than six months later, they knew they would have to part ways, but their love wouldn’t allow them to part ways forever, so they got married before moving to their separate duty stations.
When Lexxy’s mom was diagnosed with cancer, she was able to leave the Navy temporarily to focus on taking care of her mother. Obviously this was an abrupt and unexpected change in lifestyle. Lexxy handled this beautifully. She moved to North Carolina with Nick, moved her mother in as well, found a job, and made it her mission to find her own happiness and put down the groundwork for her own business as a life coach.
She enjoys her day job as an assistant manager of a local taproom, The Salty Turtle. It is a microbrewery owned and operated by military members and veterans in Surf City, NC. She applied when they first opened and quickly rose through the ranks due to her leadership and organizational skills.
When she’s not working at Salty Turtle, she is constantly reading literature on personal development, motivation, behavioral development, and health and fitness. All of her research is geared toward becoming a life coach, helping those who are in a rut, whether that rut is with their fitness and/or health goals, life goals, motivational challenges, or overcoming a certain behavior or habit.
With the rest of her limited time, she is an amazing artist, interior decorator, and fur mom to two loving fur babies, Koda and Kaya. Her walls are decorated with her own artwork, and she somehow keeps her house immaculate with a black lab mix and German Shepherd mix…which could be a full-time job in and of itself.
As if all of that isn’t enough, Lexxy is one of the most naturally eloquent writers I have had the pleasure of reading. Allow me to use her words, so I don’t butcher them. When asked when she and Nick experienced the most growth, she wrote about the beginning of their marriage when they were apart for six months and simultaneously learning how to live with and without one another, she wrote:
“Days become weeks and weeks becomes months and despite all the effort you still feel alone because there’s a very physical aspect of relationships even if it’s just seeing them standing in front of you. I think most people are afraid to say that with the feat it might validate long distance relationships as insufficient. You’re alone and the moments you once had start to feel like a dream or as if they were a ghost. You lose pieces of yourself when half of your heart is living somewhere else. Love and distance is almost as if you planted a new seed in a garden. Winter will come and everything is lifeless and you don’t even know how to get out of bed. But the sun eventually shines and winter becomes spring and all that work you put into plating and sowing becomes the most incredible garden you have ever seen.”
Like I said…naturally eloquent and relatable to every military spouse. I’m just going to leave this here…
